![]() They also aren’t ambushersthey have no Stealth skill. The more suffused with evil influence an area is, however, the greater their numbers. With its army the Swamp Blight raids all surrounding settlements, with the book specifically noting that its legion will usually knock out victims before dragging them back to the Unquiet Bog to finish them off properly and turn them into more mummies. A blight dragons lair is a foul cave or ruin that the suns light cannot reach and where it can watch over its slaves and nearby humanoid settlements. Needle blights may be encountered in groups, but unlike twig blights, they aren’t always encountered in groups: they have sufficient Strength and Constitution to take on low-level opponents alone. The Swamp Blight directly controls and commands up to 35+ HD worth of mummies, while any above that limit rise as free-willed but loyal-to-the-ooze undead. Which is fine as an encounter in general, but not ideal for a 'Blight Encounter' haha. I'd have included Assassin Vines, Shambling Mounds, or an evil Treant to boost the challenge, but then I ran the risk of diluting the encounter and the focus falling off the Blights. All humanoid creatures that die within the Swamp Blight’s Domain rise as Swamp Mummies if they possess 7 or less hit dice… or Mummy Lords if they have 8 or more HD. Feel free to tweak the final encounter based on your PC level. The most dangerous trick the Swamp Blight has, though, is its own personal Cursed Domain, the Unquiet Bog. Being bitten by that many mosquitoes also forces a Fortitude save versus being struck nauseous, which is something you definitely don’t want to be when you’re that close to its stinging tentacles. Ending ones turn within 10 feet of the Blight causes them to take 2d6 damage as the insects swarm them, plus an additional 1d6 bleed damage on top of that. It features exploration, role-playing and thrilling combat encounters. ![]() That damage can already rack up quickly, but drawing too close to a Swamp Blight exposes one to their Mosquito Aura as well. Into Ivy Mansion is a Dungeons and Dragons one-shot adventure for a 3rd-4th level party. Hopefully your frontliners are immune to poison! Because that just knocks half their damage away right there. Being jabbed over and over just makes the Toxic Acid harder and harder to resist while also making the toxin linger longer and longer in the system. So, with some insanely bad luck, that’s 1d8+12 + 12d6 acid + 6 Str drain. Each round, the unfortunate victim takes 2d6 acid damage, 1 Str drain, and 1 round of staggering, with all the added pain of being struck with up to five doses in a single turn. While at first the stings may not look impressive at only 1d8+12 damage, each successful one injects a dose of Toxic Acid into the target, a poison that lingers for 6 rounds. Though it possesses none of the hit-and-run potential of the Tundra Blight, a Swamp Blight’s tactics are just as dangerous, making excellent use of its 15 foot reach to deliver up to five painful, painful stings each round. ![]() This encounter is no joke if the party decides to handle it outside. With the exception of a Tundra Blight harassing a party with no access to magical healing, the Swamp Blight possesses the highest damage output of all the Blights. The vine blights also have a melee attack with a reach of 10ft.
